発明の概要(英語) Hydrogen ions produced in an anode catalyst layer can be efficiently conducted to an electrolyte membrane by adopting a gas diffusion layer and/or a catalyst layer, comprising an ion-conductive polymer material (an ionomer) substantially evenly covering the inner wall of pores (primary pores)within primary aggregates of carbon on which a metal catalyst has been support. Further, hydrogen ions can be allowed to efficiently arrive at a cathode catalyst layer, a lowering in material diffusion speed of oxygen and water as a reactant and a product in the cathode electrode can be suppressed, and the percentage utilization of the metal catalyst canbe improved.
