発明の概要(英語) A computer (12) of an image processing apparatus (11) acquires a moving image including a cross section of a carotid artery taken along the minor axis thereof and a cross section of peripheral tissue in the periphery of the carotid artery to estimate an optical flow of points included in an area corresponding to a carotid artery wall and points included in an area corresponding to the peripheral tissue from two time-different frame images of the acquired moving image. The computer (12) calculates a displacement of the carotid artery and the peripheral tissue in the radial direction of the carotid artery depending on a change in internal pressure of the carotid artery on the basis of the estimated optical flow of the points. In addition, the computer (12) calculates a displacement of the carotid artery and the peripheral tissue in the radial direction of the carotid artery depending on a change in internal pressure of the carotid artery on the basis of a theoretical expression obtained by modeling the carotid artery and the peripheral tissue as a two-layer cylinder. The computer (12) calculates the elastic modulus of the carotid artery wall and that of the peripheral tissue so that the squared difference between the two displacements is minimized.
