発明の概要(英語) Disclosed is a novel transformant of Kluyveromyces marxianus, which is produced by introducing a foreign flocculation gene into a bacterium Kluyveromyces marxianus, and has suitable levels of heat resistance and flocculating properties for the industrial production of bioethanol. Also disclosed is a method for producing the transformant with efficiency. Attention has focused on a Saccharomyces cerevisiae flocculation gene FLO as a foreign gene for imparting flocculating properties to a bacterium Kluyveromyces marxianus, and a linear DNA fragment containing a known expression promoter sequence and a FLO gene sequence originated from Saccharomyces cerevisiae is produced. The linear DNA fragment is introduced into a bacterium Kluyveromyces marxianus, and it is confirmed that a transformant of Kluyveromyces marxianus can be produced efficiently and that the flocculating properties of the transformant is significantly improved unexpectedly.
