発明の概要(英語) A novel catalyst with which carbon monoxide can be economically removed without externally adding a special reactant gas; a process for producing the catalyst; and a device using the catalyst. The catalyst is obtained by depositing a ruthenium salt through impregnation on a non-stoichiometric Ni-Al composite oxide precursor produced by a plasma spray method and reducing the precursor. It was found that with the catalyst, selective CO methanation proceeds even in a high-temperature range in which CO2 methanation and a reverse water-gas-shift reaction proceed dominantly over CO methanation when conventional catalysts are used. Other Ni-Al composite oxide precursors and additive metal species were found to be also effective in inducing CO selective methanation with satisfactory reproducibility. It was further found that the low-temperature activity of these catalyst materials in CO methanation is improved by producing the catalyst materials through steps different from conventional catalyst production processes and that the temperature window possessed by the resultant catalyst materials can be effectively utilized to the highest degree.
