発明の概要(英語) Disclosed is a metal member manufacturing method capable of easily producing a base metal-material porous body having nanometer-dimension pores; also disclosed is the metal member. A metal material (1) comprises a compound, an alloy, or a nonequilibrium alloy containing simultaneously a second component and a third component having a positive and negative heat of mixing, respectively, relative to a first component and having a higher melting point than the solidifying point of the metal bath comprising the first component. The metal material (1) is immersed in a molten metal bath (3) comprising the first component, and is controlled so as to have a temperature lower than the lowest liquidus temperature over the range of compositional variation in which the amount of the third component is decreased from the composition of the metal material (1) until becoming the composition of the second component; thereby, the third component is selectively eluted in the molten metal bath (3). After the metal material (1) has been retrieved from the molten metal bath (3), the peripherally attached first component and third component admixed bodies (5) are removed by means of an acid or alkaline solution (7) capable of selectively eluting only said attached admixed bodies (5).
