発明の概要(英語) One of the purposes of the present invention is to provide a hydrogen production catalyst which exhibits a certain level of high activity in a high-concentration aqueous formic acid solution without the need of adding any solvent or any amine and therefore has higher performance than those of conventional ones. A metal phosphine complex according to the present invention is represented by general formula (1) MHm(CO)Ln, wherein M represents an iridium, iron, rhodium or ruthenium atom; m = 3 and n = 2 when M represents an iridium or rhodium atom, and m = 2 and n = 3 when M represents an iron or ruthenium atom; and n pieces of L's independently represent a tri-substituted phosphine represented by general formula (2) PR1R2R3. The hydrogen production catalyst according to the present invention contains the metal phosphine complex as a component.
