A thermoacoustic engine (1) having a plurality of resonant pipes (10) formed into an annular shape overall, a plurality of motors (20) joining the plurality of resonant pipes (10), and branching pipes (11) connected at one end to and communicated with the resonant pipes (10)

each of the motors (20) having a heat storage device (21), a heater (22) for heating one end (the high-temperature part (21b)) of the heat storage device (21), and a cooler (23) for releasing the heat of the other end (the room-temperature part (21a)) of the heat storage device (21) to the exterior

and a temperature gradient being formed between both ends of each heat storage device (21) to produce excited vibration in an operative gas. The thermoacoustic engine is characterized in that the flow channel cross sections of the resonant pipes (10) joined to the heaters (22) are either equal to the amplification factor of a working stream (W) resulting from the excited vibration, or enlarged by an amplification factor within a +-30% range, relative to the flow channel cross sections of the resonant pipes (10) joined to the coolers (23), and the flow channel cross sections of the heat storage devices (21) are four to 36 times the flow channel cross sections of the resonant pipes (10) joined to the coolers (23).
