Provided are a reliable method for testing diseases associated with lipid metabolism and a method for assessing a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for diseases associated with lipid metabolism, each of which utilizes the more specific mechanism of action with other adipogenesis-related factors in DEC1 and the influence of circadian rhythm. The method for testing diseases associated with lipid metabolism is characterized in that the expression amount of at least one adipogenesis-related gene, of which the circadian rhythm is induced by DEC1, on the basis of the circadian rhythm in a sample collected from a subject is employed as a measure. Preferably, the sample is a biological sample containing an adipocyte, an adipose tissue or a substance secreted from an adipocyte.
