発明の概要(英語) It is intended to improve beef qualities and elevate the beef marbling standard (BMS) level, etc. This object can be established by administering vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) to cattle. Although vitamin C may be administered by injection or the like, oral administration is the most convenient method. However, vitamin C which is orally administered alone is digested by microorganisms in the rumen and thus fails to establish the desired effects. Therefore, it is necessary to coat vitamin C so that it can pass the stomach and be absorbed in the intestine. As such a coating, it is favorable to use hardened soybean oil. The administration dose appropriately ranges from 20 mg/kg body weight/day to 60 mg/kg body weight/day in terms of vitamin C. As the results of a test on Japanese Black Cattle, no significant difference in yield is observed but significant differences are observed in beef qualities such as BMS, gloss, tension and texture between the test group and the control group.
