発明の概要(英語) Provided is a hydrogen carrier with which stable storage and transport under a normal-pressure environment are possible, and which is easy to handle and has excellent reusability. Also provided is a method for generating hydrogen using the hydrogen carrier. The hydrogen carrier has a hydrogen storage part in the main chain or side chain of an organic polymer, this hydrogen storage part generates hydrogen molecules in the presence of a catalyst and becomes an oxidation-reduction active part, and the oxidation-reduction active part stores hydrogen as a result of reduction and contact with a proton source to become a hydrogen storage part. The method for generating hydrogen comprises a first step for preparing the hydrogen carrier, and a second step for generating hydrogen by causing the hydrogen carrier to contact the catalyst.
