発明の概要(英語) The objective of the present invention is to provide a medium and a method for improving the rate of induced differentiation of stem cells such as ES cells or iPS cells. By means of the present invention, it is possible to efficiently induce differentiation by means of culturing stem cells in an undifferentiation maintaining medium from which methionine has been eliminated before inducing differentiation by culturing in a differentiation inducing medium. The present invention provides a method that is for inducing differentiation of mammal-derived pluripotent stem cells and that contains: a step for culturing the pluripotent stem cells in an undifferentiation maintaining medium for pluripotent stem cells and comprising a medium not containing methionine; and a step for culturing the pluripotent stem cells in a differentiation inducing medium to induce differentiation. The present invention also provides pluripotent stem cells cultured by means of the undifferentiation maintaining medium for mammal-derived pluripotent stem cells and comprising a medium not containing methionine. The present invention further provides an undifferentiation maintaining medium that is for pluripotent stem cells and does not contain methionine in the medium.
