発明の概要(英語) Provided are: a highly active electrode catalyst which is used for a fuel cell that uses a highly safe liquid fuel and has high power generation performance; and a method for producing an electrode catalyst. An electrode catalyst which is used for a fuel cell that uses an organic oligomer as a liquid fuel. This electrode catalyst comprises: a carrier that is composed of particles of an oxide containing tin; and platinum or an alloy containing platinum, which is supported by the carrier. Some or all of the platinum or some or all of the platinum contained in the alloy forms an alloy with the tin. The alloy of the platinum and the tin is obtained by performing a heat treatment at a temperature of 600°C or more after having the carrier support the platinum or the alloy containing platinum.
