発明の概要(英語) Provided is an oxygen electrode catalyst that achieves a high gravimetric energy density in batteries and reduces the cost of electrodes. This oxygen electrode catalyst includes a fibrous carbon - lanthanum manganese oxide composite material. The fibrous carbon is a carbon nanofiber, a carbon nanotube, or a carbon fiber and the lanthanum manganese oxide is LaMnO3, an oxide (LaMnOx) having an oxygen defect (x being at least 2.5 and less than 3), an A-site replaceable La1-xAxMnO3 (A being Y, Sr, K, or Ca and x being less than 0.5), or a B-site replaceable LaMn1-yByO3 (B being V, Cr, Fe, or Al and y being less than 0.5). This fibrous carbon - lanthanum manganese oxide composite material is obtained by mixing the fibrous carbon in a solution of a lanthanium-source compound and a manganese-source compound and then heat treating same.
