発明の概要(英語) The present invention provides an infrared-transmitting glass which is a chalcogenide glass, the infrared-transmitting glass having a reduced Ge content, being capable of sufficiently covering the atmospheric window, containing no highly toxic elements such as Se and As, and being suitable for mold forming. Specifically, the present invention provides an infrared-transmitting glass suitable for mold forming, characterized by comprising, in terms of molar concentration, 0-2% Ge, 3-30% Ga, 10-40% Sb, 45-70% S, 3-30% at least one element selected from the group consisting of Sn, Ag, Cu, Te, and Cs, and 0-30% at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br, and I.

1. At molar concentration,

At least 1 where it is selected from the group which consists of Sn, Ag, Cu, Te and Cs kinds: 3-30%,
At least 1 where it is selected from the group which consists of Cl, Br and I kinds: 0-30%,
The infrared ray transmitting glass which is suited for the mold formation which features that it contains.

2. At least it contains with halogen element and Cs of 1 where it is selected from the group which consists of Cl, Br and I kinds, molar concentration of the particular halogen element is the 3-20%, in claim 1 the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.

3. The total molar concentration of Cl and Br is below the total molar concentration of Ag and Cu and Cs, in claim 1 or 2 the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.

4. Se or As are not contained, in either of the claim 1-3 the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.

5. Wave length transmits the infrared ray of 3-13 .micro.m, in either of the claim 1-4 the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.

6. Furthermore portion of visible spectrum is transmitted, in either of the claim 2-5 the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.

7. Crystallization temperature (Tc) with glass transition temperature (Tg) with difference (.Delta.T) is above 230K, in either of the claim 1-6 the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.

8. When it heats to the 600.deg.C in, it cannot recognize crystallization, in either of the claim 1-6 the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.

9. With mold formation the spherical lens and the aspherical lens, in either of the claim 1-8 in order to produce lens array, micro lens array or the diffraction grating the infrared ray transmitting glass of statement.
