PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein having blood clotting inhibition activity and antiinflammatory activity.
SOLUTION: The present invention provides an As-2 protein which is a new protein derived from Anopheles stephensi and provide an As-2 gene encoding the protein. The As-2 protein has bradykinin-production inhibiting activity and, accordingly, pharmaceuticals containing the As-2 protein as an active component are useful as an antiinflammatory agent and analgesic agent. Since the protein has a blood clotting inhibition activity, pharmaceuticals containing the As-2 protein as an active component are useful as a blood clotting inhibition agent for the treatment and prevention of myocardial infarction, pulmonary infarction and cerebral infarction. The As-2 protein is highly expectable also in the field for the development of pharmaceuticals as a leading compound of an antiinflammatory agent, an analgesic agent and a blood clotting inhibitor.
