SOLUTION: This sound arrester 1 is a passive sound arrester for converting vibrational energy by noise S1 into electric energy and reducing the noise S1 by converting this electric energy into heat energy. A piezoelectric film 2 is a film for converting sound pressure into an electric signal by receiving the noise S1 by a vibrating surface, and a holding part 4 is a part for holding a peripheral edge surface of the piezoelectric film 2. The holding part 4 has a pair of holding members 4a and 4b, and the holding members 4a and 4b hold the piezoelectric film 2 in a tensioning state by sandwiching the peripheral edge part of the piezoelectric film 2.
