PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a mass while scattering it and prevent breakage of a basic part of a structural body by arranging a shock absorber which is composed of a buckling-deformable elastic member and a rigid member integrall with each other or indpenendently on each other on one structural body oppositely to the other.
SOLUTION: A shock eliminating body adopted to a base isolation structure arranged across structral bodies is composed by integrating an elastic member 1 which can be buckling-deformed and with a rigid member 5. The elastic member 1 is formed by embedding alternatively a laminated member made of woven fabric such as mixed fiber or nonwoven fabric and elastic metarial such as synthetic resin. The rigid member 5, whose shape is freelly selected, is made of, for instance, metal. In order to cover the elastic member 1 having, for instance, a V-shaped form, the rigid member having, for instance, a gate-like section is superposed to obtain a compound structure. In such a case, when the rigid member 5 is broken upon a load exceeding a desiged load, the elastic member 1 is buckling-deformed for reducing the load, and breakage of a basic part of the structural body is prevented.
