PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composting apparatus which generates malodors to a less extent.
SOLUTION: Thermally insulating materials 4 are attached to the outer side of a vessel 2 opened in its upper part and a bottom member 3 formed with pores 3a is attached into the vessel 2. A housing section 7 is formed by a segment upper than the bottom member 3 of the vessel 2 and the bottom member 3. The interior of the housing section 7 is partitioned by pass partition plates 6a, etc., to form a plurality of garbage housing sections, such as garbage housing sections 9a. Since the upper part of the vessel 2 is opened, the garbage housing sections 9a, etc., are so constructed that steam can be released to the upper part. Further, the garbage housing sections 9a, etc., have the pores 3b at their bottoms and therefore the garbage housing sections 9a, etc., are so constructed that the steam can be released from their lower parts. The garbage housing sections 9a, etc., can release the moisture contained by the garbage put therein from the top and bottom.
