Title PLATINUM-GROUP METAL RECOVERY METHOD, COMPOSITION CONTAINING PLATINUM-GROUP METALS, AND CERAMIC MATERIAL
Abstract Provided is a platinum-group metal recovery method for efficiently recovering platinum-group metals. The platinum-group metal recovery method comprises an immobilization step for bringing a raw material melt containing platinum-group metals, an alkali metal carbonate or hydroxide melt, an oxide melt, and a ceramic material into contact with each other to immobilize the platinum-group metals on the ceramic material.
Outline of related art and contending technology BACKGROUND ART
Platinum group metals have excellent catalytic performance, and therefore are used in various applications such as automobile exhaust gas purification catalysts and fuel automobile catalysts. In this way, platinum group metals are industrially essential elements, but due to their scarcity, the produced amount of platinum group metals is much lower than that of base metals. For example, the produced amounts of Pt and Pd, which are produced relatively large among platinum group metals, are approximately 200 tons. Furthermore, primary sources of platinum group metals are limited to south Africa, Russia, and the like. Therefore, when demand for platinum group metals increases due to the development of new materials using platinum group metals, insufficient supply of platinum group metals occurs. That is, it can be said that there is a high risk of supplying platinum group metals at present.
In order to address such supply risk due to uneven distribution of resources, it is extremely important to extract and recover platinum group metals from waste products such as waste catalysts generated in Japan. In addition, mining and smelting of natural ores involves a large environmental burden. Therefore, if the platinum group metal can be efficiently extracted from waste products having a higher platinum group metal concentration than natural ores, it also leads to a reduction in environmental impact. However, since platinum group metals are chemically stable, conventional dry methods require separating and concentrating the platinum group metal from waste products and dissolving the concentrate with a high concentration of acid. Therefore, the energy consumption for extracting the platinum group metal is large, and the chemical cost and waste liquid treatment cost are also high. Therefore, there is a need to develop a more efficient method for recovering platinum group metals. For example, Patent Document 1~ 4 and Non-Patent Document 1 disclose a conventional technique related to a method for recovering a platinum group metal.
