Title WEIGHT ESTIMATION DEVICE AND PROGRAM
Abstract Provided is a weight estimation device which offers a greater degree of freedom in the imaging direction that enables estimation of the weight of an animal. A weight estimation device comprising: an image acquisition unit which acquires an image of an animal; a shape identification unit which identifies the shape of a prescribed region of the animal from said image; an information generation unit which, on the basis of the shape of the prescribed region, generates estimation information for use in estimating the weight of the animal; and a weight estimation unit which estimates the weight on the basis of the estimation information, wherein the information generation unit is capable of generating the estimation information both in the case when a first image (animal image GA) is acquired by photographing an animal from a first direction (e.g., the left side of the body) and in the case when a second image is acquired by photographing the animal from a second direction (e.g., the right side of the body) different from the first direction.
Outline of related art and contending technology BACKGROUND ART
Traditionally, animals, such as livestock, are weighed on a scale. However, when the animal does not rest on a scale, there is a problem in that the weight is not accurately measured. As a configuration for solving this problem, Patent Document 1 describes a configuration in which an animal is photographed from a predetermined photographing direction, and the weight of the animal is measured (estimated) from the photographed image. According to the configuration described above, it is not necessary to keep the animal stationary on a scale, so the problems described above are suppressed.
