Abstract This image display device (1) is provided with a light source unit that generates a plurality of light beams corresponding respectively to a plurality of pixels contained in an image, a projecting unit which forms a light path from the light source unit to an eye, and which directly projects the plurality of generated light beams on the retina of the eye through the light path, thereby forming the image on the retina, a branching unit that branches, on the light path, a plurality of reflected light beams from positions respectively corresponding to the plurality of pixels on a prescribed site of the eye, a detecting unit that detects the respective intensities of the plurality of branched reflected light beams, and a processing unit that obtains a parameter indicating the state of the site on the position corresponding to each of the plurality of pixels on the basis of the intensity of the generated light beams corresponding to each of the plurality of pixels and the detected intensity of the reflected light beams.
