Abstract A method for using an adsorbent, in which a cationic adsorbent made of a cationic polymer gel and an anionic adsorbent made of an anionic polymer gel are made to coexist in an aqueous solution containing negative ions and positive ions, the negative ions are caused to be adsorbed by ionized cationic groups of the cationic polymer gel, and the positive ions are caused to be adsorbed by ionized anionic groups of the anionic polymer gel.
Outline of related art and contending technology BACKGROUND ART
Waste water from plants and the like contains nitric acid, phosphoric acid, ammonium, and the like, and has adverse effects on the water environment such as enrichment, and removal of these is required. In addition, due to the lack of rare metal resources or the like, separation and recovery of metals from waste water discharged by crushing noble metals at the time of production of automobiles and electronic equipment is desired.
The use of adsorbents that adsorb harmful substances and valuable substances in the removal and recovery of these substances from such aqueous solutions has been proposed. Examples thereof include adsorbents including ionic polymer compounds capable of adsorbing ions in an aqueous solution, anionic polymer compounds capable of adsorbing cations, and cationic polymer compounds capable of adsorbing anions (for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2). Furthermore, there are also adsorbents having both a cationic group and an anionic group in the molecule (for example, Patent Documents 3 and 4).
