Abstract A fibrosis measurement device (100) for non-invasively measuring the fibrosis of biological tissue is equipped with: an acoustic wave emitter (10) for emitting acoustic waves by scanning across the surface of biological tissue OR in a manner such that the acoustic waves are concentrated in a plurality of sites of the biological tissue OR to be measured; an electromagnetic wave receiver (20) for receiving electromagnetic waves produced at each site of the biological tissue OR irradiated with the acoustic waves; a signal extraction unit (30) for extracting a signal expressing one or more properties selected from a group consisting of the electrical properties of the biological tissue OR, the magnetic properties thereof, the electromechanical properties thereof and the magnetomechanical properties thereof, on the basis of one or more factors selected from the group consisting of the intensity of the electromagnetic waves received by the electromagnetic wave receiver (20), the phase thereof and the frequency thereof; an imaging unit (40) for forming an image with the signal extracted by the signal extraction unit (30) as a two-dimensional image; and an area comparison unit (50) for comparing the area of the section where the signal expressing the property is displayed in the two-dimensional image and the area which corresponds to a pre-set signal intensity threshold with one another.

The measurement technique "acoustically induced electromagnetic method" (hereinafter, also referred to as "ASEM method" (Acoustically Stimulated EM Method)) developed by the present inventors includes: By irradiating with sound waves, the electric charge and magnetization of a measurement target object are modulated, and information relating to electrical characteristics and magnetic characteristics of the measurement target object is externally transmitted in the form of electromagnetic radiation (see Patent Document 1, for example).
