発明の概要(英語) A fluid device according to the present invention is characterized by being provided with a base material and a lid member, wherein: the base material and the lid member are provided so that a first flow path, a second flow path, and a third flow path that communicates with the first flow path and the second flow path are formed through the adhesion of the base material and the lid member; the third flow path has a first housing section for detachably housing a first cell culture module; the second flow path has a second housing section for detachably housing a second cell culture module; the first cell culture module houses first cells having a barrier function and a first culturing gel; the second cell culture module houses second cells and a second culturing gel; and the first housing section is provided so that the first cell culture module blocks the third flow path.
従来技術、競合技術の概要(英語) BACKGROUND ART
The living body has a cellular tissue having a barrier function in order to maintain the biological function. For example, the skin has epidermal cells that prevent foreign matter from entering the body. Among the cellular tissues having the barrier function, there is a cellular tissue having a selective uptake mechanism (and a filtering function). For example, the blood-brain barrier and the blood-retina barrier have vascular endothelial cells bound by strong intercellular adhesion, and the endothelial cells have barrier functions and selective uptake mechanisms. The intestine has intestinal epithelial cells having a mechanism for selectively absorbing nutrients. The kidney produces urine by 2-stage system of glomerular filtration and tubule resorption, and the tubule has tubule cells having a mechanism for transporting only specific substances.
The barrier function and selective uptake mechanism of these cellular tissues have been studied in various fields such as pathology, medicine, functional food and cosmetics. In these studies, barrier function and uptake mechanism have been evaluated mainly in animal experiments and clinical studies. However, in animal experiments and clinical tests, it is difficult to evaluate the barrier function and uptake mechanism accurately in complex living bodies. From the viewpoint of animal protection, the regulation of animal experiments is in progress in the world. Therefore, the research and development of alternative experiments for animal experiments have been actively carried out throughout the world.
A in vitro model of the blood-brain barrier is known (, for example, see Patent Document 1). By using such a in vitro model, barrier function and selective uptake mechanism of the blood-brain barrier can be evaluated. Furthermore, see (, for example, Patent Document 2) is known that removably houses a cube-shaped culture vessel including a window through which nutrient components and the like can pass.
