Title IRIDIUM-BASED PYROCHLORE TYPE ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE SUBSTANCE AND METHOD FOR PREPARATION THEREOF
Abstract An electrically conductive substance having a pyrochlore structure which is represented by the general formula R2Ir2O7, wherein R represents one or more elements selected from the rare earth elements: La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu and Z. The substance is a novel substance which exhibits both of useful characteristics of the geometrically frustrated state, wherein magnetic state is controllable by an external magnetic field or the like, and a good electrical cnductivity which leads to electric controllability and utilization of accumulated heat. In particular, the above conductive substance wherein R represents one or more elements selected from among La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, and Eu exhibits metallic electrical conductivity characteristics, and therefore is useful as a functional electronic material having magnetic controllabiltity and a heat accumulating material having a large heat capacity.
Scope of claims (In Japanese)
【請求項1】 一般式R2Ir2O7(ただし、Rは希土類元素La,Ce,Pr,Nd,Pm,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er,Tm,Yb,Lu,およびYから選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素)で表されるパイロクロア構造を有する導電性物質。

【請求項2】 RがLa,Ce,Pr,Nd,Pm,Sm,Euから選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素である請求項1記載のパイロクロア型導電性物質。

【請求項3】 RがPrである請求項1または2に記載のパイロクロア型導電性物質。

【請求項4】 原料である酸化物RnOm(ただし、Rは希土類元素La,Ce,Pr,Nd,Pm,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er,Tm,Yb,Lu,およびYから選ばれる1種または2種以上の元素。n,mは整数。)とIrO2とをRとIrのモル数が等しくなるように計量・混合し、空気中で700℃から1100℃の温度で4日間程度反応させることを特徴とするパイロクロア型導電性物質の製造方法。

【請求項5】 反応温度が800℃から950℃である請求項4に記載のパイロクロア型導電性物質の製造方法。

【請求項6】 反応途中にも混合操作を加える請求項4または5に記載のパイロクロア型導電性物質の製造方法。
