1. A composite body is provided with a material having conductivity and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material, wherein the oxide of the transition metal has an amorphous structure.

2. A catalyst comprising a composite body which comprises a material having electrical conductivity and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material, wherein the oxide of the transition metal has an amorphous structure.

A structure which is a composite body that is held on a substrate having electrical conductivity, the composite body comprising a material having electrical conductivity and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material, the transition metal being at least one of transition metals of groups 8 to 10 of the periodic table, the oxide of the transition metal having an amorphous structure, and the substrate being a porous material.

An electrode catalyst which is an electrode for holding a composite on a substrate having conductivity, wherein the composite comprises a material having conductivity and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material, the transition metal is at least one of transition metals in groups 8 to 10 of the periodic table, the oxide of the transition metal has an amorphous structure, and the substrate is a porous material.

5. An electrochemical reaction device using an electrode including a structure as an anode, wherein the structure is held on a conductive substrate as a composite, and the composite comprises a conductive material and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material.

6. A membrane electrode assembly comprising: an anode comprising a structure, a cathode, and an electrolyte membrane disposed between the anode and the cathode,
the structure is configured to hold a composite body on a base material having electrical conductivity, the composite body including a material having electrical conductivity and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material.

7. An alcohol synthesis apparatus comprising the membrane electrode assembly according to claim 6, and further comprising:
a first supply device for supplying water or steam to the anode;
a second supply device for supplying carboxylic acids to the cathode; and
and a device for recovering the alcohol formed at the cathode.

8. A method for producing a structure which is configured as a composite body comprising a material having electrical conductivity and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material, the composite body being held on a porous structure and being electrically conductive,
the method for manufacturing the structure includes the following steps:
a material having electrical conductivity is immersed in a solution of a precursor of an oxide of a transition metal and the solution impregnated with the material is heated.

9. A method for producing an electrode catalyst configured to hold a composite body on a conductive substrate having a porous structure, the composite body comprising a material having conductivity and an oxide of a transition metal supported on the material,
the method for producing the electrode catalyst comprises the following steps:
a solid electrolyte membrane is bonded to a base material that holds a material having electrical conductivity, by applying a transition metal obtained by treating a precursor of an oxide of the transition metal with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal or water of a polyhydric alcohol to the solid electrolyte membrane.

10. The method for producing an electrode catalyst according to claim 9, wherein the material having conductivity is titanium oxide, the oxide of the transition metal is iridium oxide, and the conductive base material having a porous structure is titanium.

11. A method for activating an electrode catalyst, wherein,
in the system of the electrode catalyst of claim 4 and the standard electrode disposed in the electrolyte, the applied voltage is reciprocally scanned over 1 time in the range of-3.0V to 1.5V with respect to the initial potential.
