Abstract A gas sensitive material comprising microcrystalline selenium (preferably selenium nanowires), and a gas sensor having an element structure wherein said gas sensitive material is positioned between two electrodes. Microcrystalline selenium, which can be easily produced and is less expensive, has a cost advantage compared with gas sensitive materials used in the conventional gas sensors. In addition, microcrystalline selenium responds to organic gas molecules at a high sensitivity at room temperature without being affected by moisture. Moreover, microcrystalline selenium shows a change of different magnitude in the value of current, that flows under a definite voltage, depending on the kind of an organic gas perceived thereby, which makes it possible to determine the kind of an organic gas based on the magnitude of the change.

【請求項1】 微結晶セレンからなるガス感受性材料。

【請求項2】 微結晶セレンがセレンナノワイヤである、請求項1記載のガス感受性材料。

【請求項3】 有機ガスの検出用である、請求項1又は2記載のガス感受性材料。

【請求項4】 有機ガスが、室温での比誘電率が1.0~38.0の範囲内にある揮発性有機化合物由来のガスである請求項3記載のガス感受性材料。

【請求項5】 請求項1に記載のガス感受性材料が2つの電極間に配置された素子構造を有するガスセンサ。

【請求項6】 請求項2に記載のガス感受性材料が2つの電極間に配置された素子構造を有するガスセンサ。

【請求項7】 有機ガスの検出用である請求項5又は6記載のガスセンサ。

【請求項8】 有機ガスが、室温での比誘電率が1.0~38.0の範囲内にある揮発性有機化合物由来のガスである請求項7記載のガスセンサ。

【請求項9】 一定電圧の基で生じる2つの電極間に流れる電流値変化の大きさの違いからガス種を識別する請求項5~8のいずれか1項に記載のガスセンサ。

【請求項10】 飽和感度において2つの電極間に流れる電流値変化の大きさの違いからガス種を識別する請求項5~8のいずれか1項に記載のガスセンサ。

【請求項11】 緩和時間の違いを尺度として一定電圧の基で生じる2つの電極間に流れる電流値変化の大きさの時間的な特性の違いからガス種を識別する請求項5~8のいずれか1項に記載のガスセンサ。
