It is intended to through fusion of the capability of ferritin molecules capable of forming of inorganic metal atom or inorganic metal compound nanoparticles, efficiently recognize carbon nanotube/carbon nanohorn or a product of modification thereof and realize carrying of a functional compound. Further, as ferritin molecules at their interface have two-dimensional crystal forming capability, it is intended to realize arraying of carbon nanotube/carbon nanohorn with the use of the molecule arraying capability of ferritin fused with a nanographite structure recognizing peptide.
Protein composed of a cage protein such as ferritin and, fused with or chemically bonded to the surface thereof, a nanographite structure recognizing peptide in its internal space is caused to hold inorganic metal atom or inorganic metal compound nanoparticles, and with the use of the affinity with nanographite structure of the nanographite structure recognizing peptide, there can be produced a nanographite structure/metal nanoparticle composite wherein multiple inorganic metal atom or inorganic metal compound nanoparticles are carried by the nanographite structure.
