Title MARKER FOR PREDICTION OF RECURRENCE OF HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA
Abstract Disclosed is a marker for the onset or recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), said marker specifying the methylated region of genomic DNA involved in the onset and recurrence of HCC, and making detection possible using a simplified process. Genomic DNA is extracted from liver tissue collected from a HCC patient infected with the hepatitis C virus, and the methylation rate of the transcriptional regulatory region of the ABCB6 gene is detected. The risk of HCC recurrence is estimated using as an index the inverse correlation between the amount of methylation of the cytosine in the transcriptional regulatory region of a non-tumorous part of the tissue and the risk of HCC recurrence, and the positive correlation between the amount of methylation of the cytosine in the transcriptional regulatory region of a tumorous part of the tissue and the risk of HCC recurrence. Furthermore, the methylation rate in the transcriptional regulatory region of the ABCB6 gene in the liver tissue is detected and HTC is diagnosed.
