Abstract A catalyst which reacts carbon monoxide with hydrogen in a fuel reforming device to convert the carbon monoxide to methane while inhibiting the methanisation of carbon dioxide contained in hydrogen gas produced from each type of hydrocarbon fuel. In the catalyst for the selective methanisation of carbon monoxide, at least one carbon dioxide reaction inhibitor selected from a halogen, an inorganic acid, or an oxometallate, is adsorbed or bonded to the active component of the catalyst which methanises carbon monoxide.
