Abstract A device for observing a three-dimensional confocal point combining a confocal microscope and an optical tweezers technique, the device having: a pair of focal plane displacement lenses which are arranged between a fixed objective lens and a fluorescent imaging camera and one of which is capable of moving along the optical axis direction; and a means for correcting the distortion in a fluorescent confocal image obtained by means of the fluorescent imaging camera. As a consequence, a device for observing a three-dimensional confocal point capable of acquiring a three-dimensional image of a sample without affecting the optical trap during the operation of the sample by using optical tweezers is provided.
