Title METHOD FOR ANALYZING STRUCTURE OF SUBSTANCE
Abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for analyzing the structure of a substance using triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (TQ-MS), the method making it possible to acquire MSn information from data obtained through a TQ-MS examination. This method for analyzing the structure of a substance comprises: (a) subjecting the substance to be analyzed to an examination by TQ-MS while changing the value of CID energy; (b) determining, with respect to each of the values of CID energy, the percentage of the amount of precursor ions to the total ion amount and the percentage of the amount of product ions having a specific m/z value to the total ion amount; (c) extracting the values of the percentage of the amount of product ions having a specific m/z value to the total ion amount which correspond to the values of CID energy that give the values of the percentage of the amount of precursor ions to the total ion amount which were determined in the step (b); (d) determining, with respect to each of all combinations, the sum of the values of the percentage of the amount of product ions having a specific m/z value to the total ion amount which were extracted in the step (c); and (e) selecting the functions that each can be approximated to a straight line from among functions where the value of the percentage of the amount of precursor ions to the total ion amount is expressed by x and the value of the sum determined above with respect to each combination is expressed by y, and analyzing the structure of the substance on the basis of the values of m/z of product ions which give the selected functions.
