Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a thermoluminescent phosphor for obtaining a two-dimensional and three-dimensional dosimeter for measuring the dose absorbed by biological tissue, the thermoluminescent phosphor exerting excellent handleability, exhibiting excellent biological tissue equivalence, and having excellent accuracy. The aforementioned problem is solved by means of a method for producing a thermoluminescent phosphor, said method involving a step (A1) for combining lithium tetraborate, boron oxide and manganese dioxide, a step (A2) for firing the aforementioned mixture at 770 to 840 DEG C, and a step (A3) for obtaining a thermoluminescent phosphor containing lithium triborate as the parent and manganese as the luminescent center within said parent by firing the aforementioned sintered product at 770 to 840 DEG C after adding and mixing lithium tetraborate into said sintered product, wherein the molar ratio between the lithium tetraborate and the boron oxide in step (A1) is 1:X (1<X=4), the amount of manganese dioxide is 0.02 to 1.0 mass% relative to the total mass of boron oxide and the total amount of lithium tetraborate added in step (A1) and step (A3), and the amount of lithium tetraborate in step (A3) is (X-1) mol relative to one mol of the boron oxide.
