The invention enables inexperienced medical interns and even patients to easily comprehend two-dimensional diagnostic images in diagnostic imaging three-dimensionally. The apparatus, which aids comprehension of two-dimensional diagnostic images in diagnostic imaging by depicting a two-dimensional cross-sectional image or the outline of a two-dimensional cross-section of a somatic organ in a three-dimensional model of said organ, is provided with: a three-dimensional model of a somatic organ that is formed inside a block of a laser light-permeable transparent material and gives rise to laser light transmission and diffuse reflection, or a three-dimensional model that is formed in the shape of a somatic organ and gives rise to laser light transmission and diffuse reflection
and a laser light-irradiating apparatus that irradiates laser light, the form of which is linear. A two-dimensional cross-sectional image or contour of a two-dimensional cross-section of the organ is depicted inside the three-dimensional model by the transmission and diffuse reflection of laser light that is irradiated from without towards the three-dimensional model so that the two-dimensional cross-sectional image or contour of the two-dimensional cross-section can be compared with the whole three-dimensional model simultaneously.
