Abstract

A compact, low-cost, and highly efficient thermoelectric conversion technique is provided by a thermoelectric conversion method in which there is used a redox reaction, the method characterized in that: a first electrode (6) containing an active material, and a second electrode (7) containing the same active material as the first electrode (6), are brought into contact with an electrolyte (2) containing alkali metal ions

the first electrode (6) or the second electrode (7) is heated or cooled, whereby a temperature difference is generated between the first electrode (6) and the second electrode (7)

and a thermoelectromotive force caused by a redox reaction in each of the electrodes (6, 7) is generated.
