Abstract

This fluorescent probe is formed of a glass powder that contains rare earth element ions, which are excited by light having a wavelength in the near infrared region and emit light having a wavelength in the near infrared region other than the above-mentioned wavelength, in glass. This method for producing a fluorescent probe sequentially comprises: a melting step wherein a compound containing a rare earth element and a glass starting material are melted

a cooling step wherein the molten material obtained in the melting step is cooled, thereby producing a glass composition that contains rare earth element ions

and a crushing step wherein the glass composition is crushed, thereby obtaining a powder.
