MICROWAVE SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a surgical instrument whereby microwave can be applied locally to a micro tissue of a living organism. A surgical instrument, wherein, while maintaining the ratio of the cross sectional area (preferably diameter) of a central conductor (1) to the cross sectional area (preferably inner diameter) of an external conductor at a constant level, the cross sectional area (diameter) of the central conductor and the cross sectional area (inner diameter) of the external conductor are reduced gradually or stepwise. Owing to this structure, microwave can be transmitted to the tip of a tapered coaxial body (9) and the microwave can be irradiated from the whole central conductor that is exposed along the longitudinal direction. The present invention has been completed based on these findings.
