Abstract

Within surrogate parent fish farming and the like where host fish are used, separated germ cells of a different lineage or different species than the host fish are transplanted into the host fish, and differentiation into a germline is induced, the present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for improving the ability to implant the transplanted separated germ cells into host gonads and increasing the transplantation efficiency in inducing differentiation into a germline by transplanting the separated germ cells. To solve this problem, a method for inducing, into a germline, separated germ cells obtained by transplanting fish-derived separated germ cells into a host fish individual by transplantation into the abdominal cavity of a peri-hatching host fish comprises rearing the host fish individual having undergone transplantation at a lower water temperature than a host rearing water temperature prior to transplantation, the temperature also having no adverse impact on the survival and development of the host fish individual, for a length of time needed for the separated germ cells having been transplanted into the abdominal cavity of the host fish to move to and be implanted in the host fish gonads, thereby improving the ability to implant the separated germ cells into the host fish gonads and increasing the transplantation efficiency in inducing differentiation into a germline by transplanting the separated germ cells.
