Provided is an organic wavelength conversion composition which offers excellent light transmittance and is capable of efficiently converting absorbed light to light of a targeted wavelength range. A wavelength conversion composition obtained so that a phosphor in which fluorescent molecules and self-assembling molecules are bonded together is included in a base polymer. The phosphor easily forms an oriented aggregate and, because the fluorescent molecules are efficiently dimerized to generate excimer fluorescence, is capable of efficient wavelength conversion and offers excellent light transmittance, even when the amount of phosphor contained therein is a low concentration in comparison to a conventional organic wavelength conversion composition.
