3. 20-80 moles % of Ru, 80-20 molar % and a cu, according to claim 1 nanoparticles.

4. Has been reduced by treatment with hydrogen, comprises nano-particles of any one of claims 1-3.

5. And a solid solution of any one of claims 1-4 RuCu catalyst comprising as a component in the nanoparticles.

6. And the catalyst is supported on a carrier according to claim 5 supported catalyst.
