発明の概要(英語) This intestinal microflora improving agent contains, as an active ingredient, galactosyl-β-1,4-rhamnose or an analog thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these substances. A pharmaceutical composition for improving intestinal microflora contains the intestinal microflora improving agent and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and/or a diluent. A food/beverage includes the intestinal microflora improving agent. A method for promoting the proliferation of Bifidobacterium is a method for administering galactosyl β-1,4-rhamnose or an analog thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these substances. A method for inhibiting the proliferation of Clostridium difficile is a method for administering galactosyl β-1,4-rhamnose or an analog thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these substances, to a subject carrying Clostridium difficile.
