PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for estimating a cardiac volume and a cardiac output, the device capable of detecting time series variation of the cardiac volume and of the cardiac output of a measurement subject in a non-contact and unconstrained manner.
SOLUTION: The device for estimating a cardiac volume and a cardiac output comprises: a transmission unit 12 and a transmitting antenna 13 for applying microwave toward the heart of a human body; a receiving antenna 14 and a receiving unit 15 for receiving the microwave passing through the heart; a detection unit 16 for detecting the microwave and detecting a detection signal; and an estimation unit for estimating the change of the cardiac volume and of the cardiac output based on the change of the amplitude or the phase of the detection signal. When a transmitted radio wave intensity is E0, a detection signal strength is E, a damping constant of the radio wave passing through the heart is α and a cardiac volume is V, the time series variation of the cardiac volume V estimated by the following mathematical formula 1 is estimated to be a change of the cardiac volume.
