PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a quick response to an emergency patient without following a procedure such as choosing of an optimal medicine when a region is cooled to restrain an epileptic fit and treat central nerve diseases including cerebrovascular disease, a head injury, and a pain.
SOLUTION: A cooling section A includes a temperature detection sensor attached to a baglike vessel 1 made of a flexible material or to a thin vessel 1 made of a thermally-conductive metal material. A heat dissipation section B has a reservoir 11, a cooler 12 added thereto and a pump 13 to circulate a cooling liquid, and the reservoir 11 is linked to the baglike vessel 1 or the thin vessel 1 of the cooling section A by a catheter. A control section C is connected to the temperature detection sensor, the pump 13, and the cooler 12, and controls the pump 13, and the cooler 12 to keep the temperature of the region within a prescribed temperature range on the basis of the detected temperature of the region. To restrain the epileptic fit, a brain wave sensing electrode is further provided in the cooling section A performing temperature control on the basis of the detected temperature of the region and a brain wave sensing signal.
