PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform top-dressing work according to the growth of crop by determining a local crop growth index of a field from the value measured by a fork sensor or a pressure sensor.
SOLUTION: The subject measuring apparatus is provided with the fork sensor 2 vertically attached in a freely suspended state or the leaf-spring pressure sensor 3 fixed in vertical state. The sensor 2 or 3 is moved in a state contacting with standing crops 16 and the displacement of the sensor 2 or 3 by tilting or stress is measured to determine the growth of the crop by a non-destructive means. The fork sensor 2 has uniformly spaced bars 9 contacting with the standing crops 16. The pressure sensor 3 has a strain gauge 3b bonded to the leaf spring 3a. The fork sensor 2 or the pressure sensor 3 is extended from the mobile body to the side of crops 16. The mobile body having the fork sensor 2 or the pressure sensor 3 is provided with a position sensor such as GPS (global positioning system) and encoder. The mobile body is further provided with a fertilizing apparatus 15 to perform the top dressing work according to the growth of the crops 16.
