PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope system capable of suppressing the occurrence of defocusing due to influences of a change in ambient temperature and vibration, etc.
SOLUTION: The microscope system is provided with an objective lens 5, a sample table 3 for placing an observation sample 2, a sensor target 4 attached to the leading end part of the objective lens 5 and a non-contact type sensor 1 attached to the sample table 3. A distance up to the sensor target 4 is detected by the non-contact type sensor 1. The microscope system is also provided with a motor 10 for moving the objective lens 5 along the optical axis, and a controller 13 for adjusting a relative distance between the leading end part of the objective lens 5 and the sample table 3 by controlling the motor 10. The motor 10 is controlled by the controller 13 so that the relative distance between the leading end part of the objective lens 5 and the sample table 3 may be kept constant based on information detected by the non-contact type sensor 1 during the control switch 12 is turned on.
