PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both of the improvement in the distance measurement precision and the extension in the measurable maximum distance, and to permit the detection of a reflective body having no relative velocity with respect to the sensor and the distance measurement.
SOLUTION: In the radio wave proximity sensor emitting a continuous wave radio wave which includes an oscillator 22 for the output in which three different oscillation frequencies are switched, a transmission antenna 1 for emitting a high frequency output thereof as the radio wave, a receiving antenna 4 for receiving the reflected radio wave from the reflective body, a mixer 5 for mixing the received signal and the high frequency output of the oscillator 22 and for detecting a Doppler signal generated according to the relative velocity with respect to the reflective body, filter circuits for extracting the Doppler signals from respective outputs corresponding to the oscillation frequencies, and a phase detection circuit for detecting the phase difference of respective outputs of the filter circuits according to the oscillation frequencies. The distance to the reflective body is calculated, using the plurality of outputs, simultaneously.
