PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chemical sensor having a large observable area, even with respect to a system wherein a detection target is not accompanied by changes in charge density.
SOLUTION: A photoconducting organic film is employed as an optically active layer in the chemical sensor to which an SPV method is applied. By employing the photoconductive organic film, the area increasing and thickness reducing effect of a device can be simply realized. Furthermore, since the organic film has resistance to anodic oxidation as compared with a silicon semiconductor film, the chemical sensor is constituted as an amperometric sensor capable of observing the detection target if the system is accompanied by oxidation-reduction reaction, even in the system that is not accompanied by changes in the charge density.
