PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coplanar line with a floating electrode for realizing high speed response and especially high speed in falling time by controlling orientation of liquid crystal molecules only by field.
SOLUTION: The coplanar line has a structure, in which floating electrodes 8A, 8B are arranged in an insulated state at intervals on both faces of a coplanar line main unit. A state of applying a field between the floating electrodes on a liquid crystal layer 4, which is arranged at a gap between the line main body and the floating electrode 8A, and a state of applying the field between a center conductor of the line main body and a grounding conductor 10 are switched so that the response time at both the rising time and falling time of the liquid crystal molecule 5 can be controlled only by the field and high speed response of the liquid crystal molecular can be realized.
