PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system capable of easily measuring the three-dimensional position of a marker pasted to an environment.
SOLUTION: A video camera 2 photographs an environment to recognize the marker in a camera image by executing a program for implementing a marker recognition algorithm and roughly determine a relative positional relation between the video camera and the markers 9. An electrically-driven universal head 3 is driven through the use of a determined positional relation to direct a laser range finder in a direction in which the marker is present. A laser beam is irradiated to the marker to verify whether its irradiation position is matched with the position of a characteristic point on the marker, match the position of laser irradiation with the position of the characteristic point on the marker, and determine the distance between the laser range finder and the marker. The accurate direction to the marker is determined on the basis of position information of the electrically-driven universal head. The three-dimensional position of the marker is determined on the basis of determined information. Three-dimensional position data is stored.
