|発明の名称||PRETREATMENT DEVICE FOR RADIOACTIVE SOLID WASTE AND METHOD|
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment device for radioactive solid waste and its method for thermally decomposing organic substance contained in miscellaneous solid waste to drastically reduce its volume while efficiently separating low-melting metals such as lead and aluminum, thereby drastically enhancing the work efficiency of the unpacking and separation of the solid waste.
SOLUTION: This pretreatment device includes: hollow cages 10 each having, on its peripheral surface, low-melting metal members 2 and a plurality of through holes 11 sufficiently smaller than high-melting metal members 3 while being capable of therewithin housing radioactive solid waste 4; and a calcining furnace 20 for therewithin housing the hollow cages to heat and decompose the solid waste 4 at temperatures of at least two levels in the range of 300 to 700°C in the hollow cages in a nitrogen atmosphere or a low-oxygen atmosphere while rotating the hollow cage so that the through holes in the peripheral surface are positioned down below.
